DEAR MIKE CARES: I have a 42-year-old son, "Wade," who still lives at home, has anxiety, depression and a wild temper. He receives minimal, below-poverty-level disability payments. Wade's father and I give him money when he says he's hungry and out of food. (We are both retired.) Wade claims his lack of money is "the system's" fault. Wade also imagines he can earn a living in the music industry. I am beyond tired of this. I'm a retired teacher. How can I help our son to become independent? Wade says our family is "broken" and doesn't work "as a team." I have my own bills to pay. -- OVER HIM IN TEXAS
DEAR OVER HIM IN TEXAS: So basically, your husband and you ignored all aspects of parenting and turned ‘ol Wadester into a pants shitting man-child who gets disability checks because he is chock full of anxiety, depression and a wild temper. Do I have that right? I guess it never occurred to you that breastfeeding this half-wit until middle school might come back to haunt you. Where were you two when he was shitting his britches and drooling through high school? In any event the worst part of Wade is far from over, if you and your useless husband don’t keep paying for his Doritos, Mountain Dew and PlayStation he will simply lop off your heads and spend the rest of the year spraying air freshener around the house until the neighbors complain. Good Luck and Keep in Touch! Dear Mike Cares is also on X, Instagram and Facebook (whatever they are.) For more honest advice, email me your stupid questions at DearMikeCares@gmail.com
